Valentine’s Day Run

Venue: The Orangery, Maleny

Sunday 17th February 2019

For this year’s Valentine’s Day run Lynda and I decided to take the club back up to Maleny, but this time to The Orangery restaurant.

To make the drive a bit more interesting we took the group up via Woodford and then up through Bellthorpe. The road up to Bellthorpe is narrow, winding and steep in places, not really a good road for stretching the legs of the vettes but an interesting and scenic drive. Being a beautiful day, there were plenty of motor bikes and other car clubs on the road so our drivers had to keep their wits about them for a lot of the trip. The burble of the twelve V8’s climbing the range must have alerted the locals we were coming, as I was surprised to see a gentleman standing on the side of the road outside of his property, basically in the middle of nowhere, with camera in hand waiting for us. It was nice to receive comments from numerous members saying they had not been on the road before and really enjoyed the drive.

The run was once again very well supported with 31 members in attendance, including Ben, Hayley and their two boys who made the trip down from Toowoomba for the day.  How did they fit 4 into a Corvette you may ask, 2 in the C3 and 2 in the BMW.

We try each year to find a new venue to go to and The Orangery did not disappoint us. The food was very good and well priced. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming.  They had reserved tables for us on the veranda, where we could keep an eye on our cars as well as see out to the coast. With a light breeze blowing all day, it made for a very enjoyable day.

Thank you to all those who attended, we look forward to seeing you again on the next run.
