Hervey Bay Whale Watch Trip

What an impressive sight heading up the Bruce Highway, six corvettes left Caboolture and were joined by the Hutch duo at the Ettamoga Pub. After a coffee stop near Gympie we made a leisurely run down to The Bay. Never one to miss an opportunity to show off our toys we cruised along the Hervey Bay Esplanade to the Kondari Resort where we checked in before heading to Shelley Beach for a BBQ lunch. Our thanks to Kim and Kath White for organising the barbie. We were joined by seven more corvettes and a few hot rod and muscle car owners for the afternoon, and it was fantastic for Krystine and I to meet up with old friends. A great dinner together at Kondari before an early start Sunday to go see the whales. A big thank you to the Whale Song crew for keeping us topped up with tucker during the trip. Several whale calves turned on a display for us and everyone was busy with their cameras. On the return trip back into Hervey Bay Marina our fearless leader Garth snatched a few ZZZZZZZ,s and managed to drown out the boat engines (just kidding, you actually could still hear the engines if you listened hard). The trip back to Brisbane was interesting. First Gary and Kim looked like spending a little longer in the Bay when their C5 decided  to hiccup and keep the steering lock engaged. (Thank you Bill Gates for computers and internet) a hasty look on-line provided some welcome advice and after much technical rocking and shoving the culprit lock decided to behave and we hit the road. I believe Gary has ordered several steering b-pass kits since getting home.  A certain blue C5 led us out of Hervey Bay and our well organised return convoy shortly turned into a free for all with the leading bunch disappearing into the distance as the rest of us tried to keep up. (Oh well we tried to keep it clean) unfortunately at least one corvette driver met with the wrath of the local constabulary (didn’t they Robert) and at least one other was only saved by sharp eyed passenger (thank you Krystine). Anyway everyone had a great time and all arrived home safe and sound. Thanks to everyone who participated in the trip from trip organiser Colin.
